Blog: Meet our New CCO!

We are thrilled to welcome our new Chief Communications Officer, Katy Hall, to the LTFF team! One month in and we are already benefitting from her experience and leadership.

I recently engaged in a friendly and energetic discussion around the concept, “If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.” I disagree with this adage and it comes down to this: there is nothing wrong with the word “work.”

I am someone who loves words, dissecting their meanings and parsing their subtle differences. “Work” in some minds means drudgery or back-breaking labor.

I think “work” is a worthy, noble pursuit. Don’t get me wrong, there are times that work is intense or physically demanding but at its core, it is a means to accomplish something and at the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation, I think that means accomplishing something life-changing.

I love what I do and I am proud to call it work. There are many aspects of my new role that make me excited to start each day with a mission to decrease the barriers to Tulsan’s with big ideas. I love the power of ideas and their representation of “what if.”

  • What if there is a place that supports local food and retail entrepreneurs?

  • What if there is a program that educates chefs, cooks and bakers and helps turn their dreams into their own small business?

  • What if there is a destination district that celebrates pride of place, Route 66 and the historic, funky vibes that makes 11th and Lewis the heart of Tulsa

I’m excited to know that there are answers to those questions and I’m ready to get to work.
